The Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management & Administration prepares students to enter careers on the business side of healthcare overseeing all the elements of a facility controlling budgets, staffing records, or compliance. The program is designed to prepare professionals for a leadership role in shaping the future of healthcare within their chosen path in the healthcare industry. This major should be of interest to those students who are seeking careers in healthcare, but do not want to become medical practitioners. Students working toward a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management & Administration must have a cumulative grade point average 2.0 to meet graduation requirements.

Mission and Identity Statement:

The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management & Administration is to prepare students to enter careers on the business side of healthcare overseeing all the elements of a facility controlling budgets, staffing records, or compliance. The program serves those pursuing a career and those in midcareer, who are seeking leadership positions in healthcare management and administration.  We offer an experience that shape and inspire future healthcare leaders who strive to improve the delivery and quality of healthcare systems and networks to patients and the community at large.

Rowan Core: 9 s.h.


All first-time Freshmen must complete the University Rowan Core Literacies. There are six literacies:

Majors may suggest courses to fulfill the above literacies and will be applied elsewhere.

Rowan Experience


Students must satisfy all three Rowan Experience attributes. Credits attached to the courses in this section will apply elsewhere.

The attributes are as follows:

  • Broad-Based Literature Attribute (LIT)
  • Writing Intensive Attribute (WI)
  • Rowan Seminar Attribute*(RS)

Departments may recommend courses to fulfill these attributes. A complete listing of courses that satisfy these attributes can be found at Undergraduate Program Requirements .

*The Rowan Seminar requirement is waived for all students transferring 24 or more approved credits into Rowan University at the time of initial entry. 

Program Requirements


Elective Courses: 12 s.h.


The program requires twelve (12) credits of elective courses. To enhance transdisciplinary learning, electives may fulfill additional Healthcare Management electives, an approved Minor, Certificate of Undergraduate Study (CUGS), or other electives.

Free Electives: 30 s.h.


The program provides thirty (30) credits of elective courses. To enhance transdisciplinary learning, elective may fulfill approved Minors, Certificates of Undergraduate Study that are relevant to career goals and fulfill electives from transfer credits.

Total Required Credits for the Program: 120 s.h.
