University College Academic Programs

Exploratory Studies Program

Exploratory Studies provides an academic home for students with fewer than 60 credits who have not yet selected a major. Exploratory Studies students receive professional academic advising from the Advising & Career Exploration (ACE) Center. First-year students in the Exploratory Studies Program will be enrolled in a dedicated section of Rowan 101: College Success - RS (UNIV 01107 ) in their first semester to familiarize them with Rowan’s many resources and to begin the process of exploring majors, careers, and their own strengths and interests. Students may remain in Exploratory Studies until they have completed 60 credits (including all transfer credits). Students who have not selected a major at that time will be placed in the Liberal Studies/Humanities & Social Science major. However, most students select a major well before 60 credits. For more information, email advise@rowan.edu.

Pre-Business Studies Program

Rowan University’s Pre-Business Program is a non-degree program similar to the Exploratory Studies Program, designed for students specifically interested in Business. Pre-Business and Exploratory Studies are both housed in University College. Pre-Business Studies students receive professional academic advising from the Advising & Career Exploration (ACE) Center. The Pre-Business plan of study is designed to ensure students will be on track for any undergraduate major within the Rohrer College of Business (RCB), assuming entrance requirements are met. To learn more about this program or to officially declare it, please contact advise@rowan.edu.
