Faculty in the Bachelor of Arts in English Education strive to transcend traditional rote forms of learning and model a more collaborative, interactive, and intellectually challenging pedagogy that is true to the richness and rigor of the academic disciplines they represent. As teacher candidates experience and participate in such learning environments in their education classes at Rowan, they develop the commitment, confidence, and ability to go into the field and create P-12 classroom environments in which students work actively with the teacher and with each other to investigate important and meaningful ideas in a particular academic discipline.

Admission to Rowan University does not guarantee admission to the Bachelor of Arts in English Education program. Candidates must meet certain benchmarks at three separate transition points in the program (admission to the program; admission to Clinical Practice year; and graduation/certification).

Rowan Core: 9 s.h.

All first-time Freshmen must complete the University Rowan Core Literacies. There are six literacies:

Communicative Literacy (COML) - 9 s.h. Satisfied by taking the following three courses:
- COMP 01111 College Composition I
- COMP 01112 College Composition II
- CMS 04205 Public Speaking
- Note: Engineering Majors will take (11 s.h.)
Artistic Literacy (ARTL)
Global Literacy (GLBL)
Humanistic Literacy (HUML)
Quantitative Literacy (QNTL)
Scientific Literacy (SCIL)

Majors may suggest courses to fulfill the above literacies and will be applied elsewhere.

Total Required Credits for the Program (with Gen Ed Courses): 120 s.h.

Students must earn a grade of at least a C minus in each course under Core Requirements and Sequences. C minus or above is required in all prerequisites to other courses.

Students must maintain a 3.0 overall GPA to graduate with a B.A. in English Education.
