The minor in Adventure Education provides a foundational level of knowledge in adventure programming. The program is a combination of theory, philosophy, and experiential learning. The coursework emphasizes the incorporation of physical safety, respectful environment, and emotional well-being for the future leaders as well as their clientele. The further benefit of the minor is the unique methodology of bringing groups together and building a cohesiveness between the individuals. Students learn to develop and frame activities/initiatives in order to effectively facilitate these. They discover ways to process activities according the Experiential Learning Cycle to help their participants grow and connect meaning to the activities.
