Certificate of Graduate Study in Business

The Business Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) provides graduate course exposure to students who are ultimately interested in pursuing the MBA degree. There are many potential graduate students who are considering the MBA degree. The purpose of the COGS in Business is to serve as a mini-MBA for those that wish to gain business expertise for career purposes, as well as an opportunity for aspirational applicants to take several classes before they apply to the MBA Program.

Program Requirements


Total Required Credits for the Program: 9 s.h.


Foundation Courses

Eligible applicants must have successfully completed the following undergraduate foundation courses at a regionally accredited institution. During the admission process, the MBA academic advisor will determine foundation course equivalencies. If applicable, official notification of any unfinished foundation courses will be included in the applicant’s official decision letter from Rowan University.

  • FC-1. Foundations of Accounting or Principles of Accounting I and II
  • FC-2. Principles of Marketing

Students admitted without having completed these foundation courses may complete them while enrolled in the COGS in Business program. The foundation courses must be completed before the corresponding course for which the foundation course is a prerequisite and do not count toward the 9 required semester hours for the program.

Minimum Required Grades and Cumulative GPA

The COGS in Business is a Category 3 program.
