Minor in Special Events Communication

The Minor in Special Events allows students to explore the various elements associated with planning special events that meet organizational goals. Three of the four required courses include specific topics necessary for effective strategic event planning, including establishing goals to build constituencies, raise funds, and publicize the event through the news media. The fourth required course allows students to explore the use of special events in the entertainment and sports industries, including ways to leverage events to increase awareness and develop relationships with key communicators and influencers. Two elective courses allow students to develop essential skills in design and digital promotion.
