Students pursuing the B.A. in Modern Languages & Linguistics (MLL) have the option to select an Intermediate Language Concentration (12 s.h.) for the program. The following language options are available for the Intermediate Language Concentration, all of which can be completed at Rowan: American Sign Language (ASL), Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. The Intermediate Language Concentration for MLL should be declared with the Academic Advisor, Cindy Finer (finer@rowan.edu).
Prior to beginning the program, students with existing proficiency in Italian should contact Dr. Alessandra Mirra (mirra@rowan.edu) for a placement interview. It is possible for students to earn credits for the courses that they skip via the Authorization for Credit by Examination process, and these credits are counted in fulfillment of program requirements. Students may also transfer credits into the program from study abroad; students planning to study abroad must meet with the Program Mentor in order to determine course equivalents.
In addition to the requirements for the B.A. in Modern Languages & Linguistics, students with the Concentration in Intermediate Italian must take the following courses, all of which must be passed with a letter grade of “C-” or better, and no courses may be taken as P/NC.
