Certificate of Undergraduate Study in Orthopedic Engineering

The Certificate of Undergraduate Study (CUGS) in Orthopedic Engineering provides a sequence of courses that combines expertise and concepts from various disciplines. This CUGS will provide directed, upper-level coursework in the topical areas of Orthopedic Engineering.

Program Requirements

Required Courses: 6 s.h.

For admittance into the CUGS, students must have completed either BIOL 10210 Human Anatomy and Physiology I OR BIOL 10212 Human Anatomy and Physiology II The requirements include four courses:

BME 11470 - Introduction to Biomechanics Credits: 3
BME 11451 - Mechanobiology Credits: 3

Elective Courses: 6-8 s.h.

BIOL 22335 - Advanced Genetics Credits: 4
MCB 22450 - Molecular Genetics Credits: 4
ME 10443 - Design For X Credits: 3
Additional electives may be approved by the advisor

Total Required Credits for the Program: 12-14 s.h.

To be awarded the CUGS in Orthopedic Engineering, students must complete all required courses.
