To be awarded the CUGS in Medical Laboratory Sciences, students must complete all required courses and one approved elective. With pre-approval from the certificate advisor, a course in this guide could be replaced by CHEM 05435 Cooperative Experience in Chemistry , if completing such course at a Clinical Laboratory. Discuss enrollment with the program director as it involves a multi-week, full-time rotation at a Clinical Laboratory Site. Such an experience is optimal if conducive with your schedule as it provides hands-on experience in the lab and increases job prospects due to this direct workplace experience. The interdisciplinary nature makes this CUGS suited for students majoring in Biomedical & Translational Sciences, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer science, and other science and engineering.
